Solving IT Budget Issues for Oregon School District with a Free Refresh 

School districts in various states of the US have been underfunded for years, which means upgrading IT infrastructure can be quite a challenge. Oregon is no exception, with billions in funding gaps

A school district facing a similar conundrum turned to PivIT for a cost-effective solution. They needed new servers for their network and upgrades to their telephony system. With a limited budget for specific IT spending, particularly wireless systems, the district didn’t have the resources to purchase other necessary equipment. 

PivIT devised a tailored solution according to the district’s unique circumstances, wherein they could trade in their old wireless infrastructure for the extra upgrades they needed. As the funds from the government were earmarked for wireless upgrades, they could upgrade that infrastructure and sell their legacy access points to PivIT for credit (Buyback Program). That credit was then used to buy servers and upgrade the telephony system across the schools and offices in the district. There was even credit left over that could be used for future purchases or refreshes.

Tackling Logistics Challenges in LATAM for a Beverage Manufacturer

At PivIT, we ensure guaranteed support, which isn’t limited by sociopolitical or logistical drawbacks. With a global network of partners, depots, and talent, we can lend support where needed, even in regions other IT support providers shy away from. One such region is Latin America. Despite being nearer to North America than Europe and Asia, importing hardware to the region can be a logistics nightmare, resulting in long lead times and unavailability. 

A large beverage and snack manufacturer operating in the region required guaranteed backup for critical IT infrastructure. They turned to PivIT to guarantee short SLAs for the region. PivIT offered short and viable SLAs that were convenient for the client and achievable for PivIT. Instead of sending equipment from the US to LATAM when needed, PivIT proactively sent the spare equipment to local depots. 

With serial numbers and locations conveyed, the client had the peace of mind that their spare equipment was near and ready to be dispatched should it be needed at any point.

Optimizing WLAN Deployment with Expert Engineers

Unlike most traditional VARs, PivIT goes beyond procurement. With our team of exceptional engineers, we take on deployment projects to help clients successfully install new equipment. 

The WLAN refresh project aimed to enhance the customer's site network efficiency by upgrading their wireless infrastructure. In collaboration with the customer, PivIT conducted a thorough wireless site survey to assess existing conditions and identify areas for improvement. This included analyzing RF interference and determining coverage requirements.

Based on the survey findings, PivIT’s engineers designed a comprehensive solution addressing the customer's needs. This involved selecting the appropriate wireless controllers and access points, considering security and integration with existing systems, and optimizing device types for different environments.

The implementation phase included installing new MDFs/IDFs, cabling, and deploying the chosen wireless equipment. The team handled all aspects of the installation and configuration, ensuring seamless integration with the customer's existing network. Finally, a post-installation survey was conducted to validate the effectiveness of the new WLAN. 

This ensured that the actual performance met the expected coverage, throughput, and usability goals outlined in the initial design.

What services does PivIT offer?

PivIT offers various services focused on IT infrastructure. Our services include infrastructure procurement, covering all critical network equipment (servers, storage, switches, routers, wireless, and cabling). We also offer hardware maintenance services (OneCall) and professional services (EXTEND), such as wireless surveys, on-site deployment, migrations, hardware staging, and asset disposal. 

How can PivIT assist in procuring the right equipment for my business?

PivIT partners with major network OEMs like Cisco, Juniper Networks, Aruba, Arista, and Netgear and can procure active generations of equipment. Our facility has over $150 million of inventory in stock, which is updated frequently as new models are released. As a result, we’re able to significantly reduce lead times. 

Before procuring the equipment, we also work with clients to determine which models and specifications best meet their technical or business requirements.

Can PivIT extend support on my equipment reaching EOSL?

PivIT’s OneCall is a fully tailored maintenance program designed to help enterprises extend the life and use of their equipment beyond EOSL. You may still want to keep your equipment in use for several reasons after it reaches its EOSL, announced by the OEM. Since the OEM will no longer support that particular model, PivIT will ensure any hardware issues or failures are addressed promptly and/or spares are provided with the shortest possible SLAs (check out our Sparing Integrity Program).

I need to replace legacy devices in my network. How can PivIT help?

PivIT can help you procure the recommended replacement for those devices with its extensive network of OEMs. We can help replace it with the same vendor or another (if a better, more cost-effective solution is available). 

Additionally, PivIT may buy your legacy equipment (if it is in useable condition) in return for store credit, which you can use to purchase new equipment. 

Can PivIT help with equipment deployment?

PivIT can help deploy your new equipment with remote hardware staging. Our engineers will conduct a detailed consultation on your current tech stack and requirements. Based on that discussion and the procured equipment, they will stage the hardware remotely, preparing a deployment plan. More importantly, the equipment is shipped according to the deployment plan, with most devices already pre-configured and connections sorted. Once received, the deployment is essentially a plug-and-play activity for on-site technicians, reducing time and complexity. 

Besides hardware staging, PivIT can offer on-site deployment with its engineers.
