Find Out Why PivIT Loves the Month of May

While PivIT is passionate about supporting kids all year long, May was extra special due to Foster Care Awareness Month. This means we partnered with and get to highlight the organizations who do an incredible job caring for foster kids in our communities year-round.

In May, we partnered with two of our favorite organizations — Angels Foster Care and Every Child PDX. These two organizations have been a part of the PivIT story from day one, and you can read more about our partnerships with them here

To kick off May Foster Care Awareness month, PivIT was honored to participate in and sponsor Angels Foster Care to create a virtual baking experience for people across the United States. The event raised over $25,000 and all proceeds went toward Angels' LionHeart Legacy Fund, which supports children with specialized medical, behavioral, or educational needs.

Meichelle Arntz, the founder of Angels Foster Care and Recipes Bakery, led the live Zoom baking tutorial as she taught participants how to prepare her highly sought-after monkey bread. Interspersed throughout the event, participants won raffles, prize giveaways and enjoyed yummy treats sent to participants ahead of time.

Additionally, during the month of May, the Portland community was invited by Every Child PDX to donate a new pair of sneakers for youth in foster care.  At the end of the month, the community's generosity was so astounding that Every Child PDX had enough donations to give every foster child AND their siblings a new pair of shoes at the family-friendly event held on May 29th.

PivIT Global jumped in to help host and throw Every Child PDX's giant "Kick Off Summer" party for hundreds of local youth and foster families. The outdoor event included games, music, extra goodies, and awesome giveaway prizes. At PivIT, we love sourcing local whenever possible, so we partnered with Blondy's Baked Goods to make sure every party attendee enjoyed delicious paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free mini muffins.

Hosting fun family-friendly Zoom baking class, or providing a new pair of sneakers with an in-person event may seem trivial, but to foster families, these gestures of support remind them, and their foster children, that they are seen and never forgotten
